DIPG Awareness & Family Support
Every Child Deserves Hope. Every Family Deserves Support.
At A Helpful Hand, we believe that caring for others extends beyond the services we provide. Sometimes the greatest act of kindness is simply helping people feel less alone.

That is why we are proud to help raise awareness about Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG)—a rare and devastating pediatric brain cancer that primarily affects children.

While DIPG is uncommon, its impact on families is profound. By sharing stories, providing trusted resources, and encouraging community support, we hope to honor the incredible children and families facing this unimaginable journey.

What is DIPG?
Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) is a rare, aggressive pediatric brain tumor found in the brainstem, an area responsible for vital functions such as breathing, heart rate, balance, and movement.

Approximately 25–30 children are diagnosed with DIPG each year in Canada. Because of its location within the brainstem, surgical removal is not possible, and treatment options remain limited.
Although rare, DIPG is one of the leading causes of brain tumor-related deaths in children.

Research continues to provide hope, and every effort to increase awareness brings us one step closer to better treatments—and one day, a cure.
